Be human. Be REAL. Be heard.

Whether you’re speaking with a journalist, employees, or a disgruntled stakeholder, remember we all have one thing in common: We are humans. Before we can even begin to deliver our message, we must build a human connection with our audience. In our experience, the best chance of accomplishing that is by being yourself. Speak in plain language, understand what’s driving your audience, and be genuine.

Respectful

of people’s time, deadlines, issues, position, dignity

Empathetic

toward audience feelings, emotions, concerns, challenges, successes

Authentic

to yourself, be human, believe in what you’re saying, no ‘spin’

Listen

to the question, to the audience reaction, to social media, the “buzz”
